I am heading back to the lower 48. Sometimes things do not work out the way we think they are going to. However, life has a tendency to change when we least expect it. And that can be a good thing. My task has been completed and time to move on. Although I thought this would take longer and it has been an experience that has not been all good, but it has been a growth process. I am a better person for having gone. Everyone and everything can teach us something.
I have discovered that what happened on my adventure to Alaska may appear to be “a bad experience” if you knew all the details, however it is not. All experiences are steps and can teach us valuable lessons. As I was on the 4-hour ferry trip to Juneau yesterday from Haines, I came to terms with that. Although it SEEMS on the surface like a debauched, crazy experience, I actually did what I was sent to Haines to do. I accomplished the task, and I now recognize the task, even though the task was not on my radar at all when I started the journey. And isn’t that how God usually works? He so often lets us walk down what we perceive as the “right” path and just when we turn a corner, He jumps up and shouts “SURPRISE, bet you didn’t see that coming!!!” and then he probably laughs. I believe that God delights in His children. He loves us enough to give us those surprises in our lives to help us grow, and to keep life interesting. To be honest, I would not want it to be any other way. It shows His supremacy even in my tiny, little life. He uses your life much in the same way. The dots connect as we look back, not as we look forward. Be encouraged my friends, to always go forward.
Parting shots of my trip to Alaska. It is so ruggedly beautiful! These people who can live here are not wimps! Kudos to all of them who have the stamina and survivability to do so.
Until the next adventure presents itself, have a wonderful adventure!
