Life Thought:
Don’t you wonder sometimes what that phrase actually means? The word ‘beginning’ in Websters dictionary means: the point at which something begins. As an adjective: being first or the first part. So actually, every day is the beginning, right? It is the first day of the rest of our lives. Every day gives us the potential to start something new. The big question is, what. What do I start today that I have not started before? Or should I continue on with that start that I made yesterday and just keep at it as best I can. The Bible begins with that phrase. “In the beginning there was the word.” That word, ‘word’ adds a whole new dimension to the phrase doesn’t it. However, that phrase means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. I am not a theologian, so I am not going to begin to start on something I have little knowledge of. Isn’t that what each day really is though? We start every day as a new beginning. Every day is a start and yet, every day is a continuation of yesterday. And on and on it goes. The word of the day is ‘beginning.’ Think on it. Absorb it. Interpret it to become your own truth. The truth of what that word means to you. Then go ahead and turn this beginning into your next adventure.
“When children are learning any subject, they have to learn it stage by stage. They do not begin with full knowledge; they begin with what they can grasp and go on to more and more.” William Barclay
Life Adventure:
So, the first week in Alaska has been an interesting experience. We had what I would call a major storm and at least 18″ of snow fell. I live in an apartment that is in the basement of a lovely home. But as can be imagined, there are many hilly roads. The snow melts and ice forms. It is a trick to get out of the driveway. My fellow employees at the fairgrounds gave me a lovely gift basket that had a pair of the heavy-duty ice grippers that slip onto the boots I are wearing. (Which by the way, my warm boots have not arrived yet. Still missing a few boxes.) It was a thoughtful gift and has been a fantastic lifesaver. I had ice grippers, but obviously, not the kind I really needed. (I think this will be a recurring theme, “not the kind I really needed.”) I worked from home two days and was finally able to get to work on Friday. The school even closed on Thursday. They tell me that this kind of snow is rare and only happens every couple of years. Hmmmmm, yeah, not sure if that is a line they are feeding me so I don’t get scared off, or if that really is the case. With the crazy weather everywhere, who knows? However, I will not be deterred at this point. I will press on!
Till the next time, start your ‘In the Beginning’, whatever that is for you! You can do it because you are unique. You have something to do that no one else can. One step at a time. “Just do it!”
